007 First Light surpasses 2,7 million players in week one. IO Interactive reveals its Year 1 roadmap with new TacSim content and a Switch 2 release date.

007 First Light is a hit with players: 2,7 million units sold in just one week. IO Interactive has delivered impressive figures right at launch. The spy action game has been available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC since May 27th.

Those who prefer to play on the go will have to wait a little longer, as the Nintendo Switch 2 version won't be released until summer. The launch is solid; now the content needs to follow.

The roadmap for year 1: TacSim and vehicles

The developers at IOI aren't resting on their laurels, however, and have already released a roadmap for the first year. The focus is clearly on the Tactical Simulation Mode, which delivers additional content. This means new challenges that will test your skills. Among other things, you'll return to Kensington in "The Workshop" and race the Aston Martin Valhalla across Slovakian mountain roads. But that's just the beginning.

Later, the action returns to the dangerous black market in Mauritania for intense off-road action. The luxury resort "The Pearl" in Vietnam also makes another appearance, as a new boss has taken over the autonomous region. Finally, MI6 provides clues about mysterious technology at Webb Industries, and one of Bond's deadliest adversaries awaits.

Alliances and gadgets from Q

There are also some story developments. Following the events in Mauritania, MI6 surprisingly allies itself with pirate king Bawma. He needs Bond's help with a rather delicate matter.

To ensure you're not unprepared for battle, Q is working on new equipment. Specifically, there are the "Even G2" smart glasses from Even Realities. This device is supposed to unlock entirely new gameplay possibilities. Let's hope it's more than just a simple HUD upgrade.

IO Interactive promises the usual live service package: weapons, cosmetics, ranked challenges, and new vehicles. A New Game+ mode for the campaign is even currently being considered.

The sales figures show that the community was extremely eager for a worthy Bond title. Our Game review It's available here. IO Interactive is perfectly capitalizing on the momentum and has released a roadmap that can keep the game alive long-term, much like Hitman. The mix of new tactical simulation scenarios and fresh gadgets sounds impressive on paper. Now the updates need to deliver quality.

Currently my Game of the Year this year, almost perfect for me. The game was incredibly fun – story, gameplay, everything. The only thing I wish it had been available in German is that it was perfect. We have such great voice actors here; they would have rocked it.
