The first content update, "Valhalla Protocol," brings vehicle-based combat to the TacSim mode of "007 First Light," while the simultaneously released Patch 1.008 fixes persistent campaign crashes. Developer IO Interactive is thus responding directly to criticism of the linear driving sequences and ongoing stability issues at launch.
The "Valhalla Protocol" content expansion integrates the 1.012 hp Aston Martin Valhalla as a playable vehicle into the previously infantry-focused TacSim challenge mode. The teaser, unlocked after reaching the credits, confirms a racetrack specifically designed for high speeds and weapon systems. The Q Division equips the supercar with homing missiles and deployable miniguns for these missions.
The Hitman strategy for the spy thriller
This move corrects a structural flaw in the main game. In the roughly 20-hour story, the driving sequences remain strictly confined and are over within minutes. The Valhalla Protocol loosens these restrictive gameplay limitations. It offers a dedicated sandbox for vehicle combat.
IO Interactive is copying its own successful model from the Hitman trilogy. Long-term post-launch support ensured player numbers for years through a constant stream of new missions and objectives. The extremely early teaser released directly at the main game's launch underscores that "007 First Light“It is intended to follow the same live service philosophy. It remains unclear whether the vehicle physics are suitable for a true sandbox environment or whether the campaign will retain its linear concept.”

Patch 1.008 fixes broken scripts and AI glitches.
Alongside the content announcement, patch 1.008 addresses several critical story blockers. The update primarily tackles stability issues during script and scene transitions. A reproducible crash during the elevator scene with Bond and Moneypenny, occurring immediately after the opening credits at the start of the mission "In His Majesty's Secret Service," has been fixed. Additionally, crashes after leaving M's office (Chapter 02) and during the transition cutscene to London (Chapter 05) have been resolved.
In addition to fixing crashes, the patch also corrects bugs in AI logic and pathfinding. In Chapter 06 ("Uninvited"), guards would immediately enter attack mode after leaving the CCTV room, instead of triggering the intended confrontation interface and dialogue. Furthermore, blocking NPC paths caused characters like Greenway to slide through walls or disappear completely from the game world. This issue has been resolved.
Patch 1.008 is a must-download for anyone who had to pause the campaign due to progress blockers. The fixed bugs were serious, as they directly impacted the critical path of the main quests. The announced "Valhalla Protocol" demonstrates that IO Interactive has listened to the feedback regarding the lack of gameplay freedom in the driving sections.
Whether the Aston Martin's handling can compete with full-fledged racing games remains to be seen in the first gameplay footage. For buyers, the update at least means a stable story experience and the prospect of genuine endgame content.
