Anyone who has made it through life to this day without having heard "VR is the future" at least once is either incredibly lucky or simply avoids contact with the outside world as much as possible. Sony, for its part, has been riding the virtual reality wave with full enthusiasm ever since they released their own VR headset for the PS4 in October 2016.

Many hours and a few frustrated synapses later, the second version of the headset is already in the starting blocks and could potentially hit the market this year. But before we dive into the next-gen VR fray, there are definitely a few titles from the previous generation that you might want to cross off your list. So here are 5 games you absolutely should play before the PlayStation VR2 release.

Moss

The world of VR games is (thankfully) not solely dominated by AAA titles. Every now and then, an indie title or two appears for the futuristic headsets. In the case of... Moss A cute adventure game by Polyarc Games, centered on the little mouse Quill, was released in February 2018. The player wakes up... Moss like a protector over the little mouse, she interacts with both characters and the unique world when necessary. Here, the goal is to help Quill follow in her uncle's footsteps, navigating creative fantasy levels and fun puzzles along the way. Moss Moreover, you have a title that works perfectly not only for adults but also for children... and a sequel with Moss: Book 2 This is also coming up soon.

Doom 3 VR Edition

Definitely not for children, this is clearly the next title on our PS4 VR to-do list! Doom 3 VR Edition Focusing more on the story than on gameplay might initially seem jarring to some fans of the series, but it fits the overall VR setting quite well. Even if you take a moment between all the shooting to, for example, walk through the space station, you'll likely find the... DOOMEven veteran gamers might notice some new details. And if the series' signature brutal soundtrack is still blasting in your ears, then despite some rather noticeable flaws, it's safe to say that this game is still worth a look.

Firewalls: Zero Hours

The next game also involves shooting, but this time without horror. Firewalls: Zero Hours It's an action shooter where the online multiplayer objective is to infiltrate the opposing team and steal data from a laptop. While the game doesn't offer much more than that, it doesn't need it, as the individual matches are so action-packed and fast-paced that each round is different from the last. A minimalist yet engaging leveling system, a truly sophisticated sound design, and a strong emphasis on teamwork and tactical understanding combine to create a must-have experience that isn't diminished by minor flaws, such as some graphical shortcomings.

Blood & Truth

To roam through London like James Bond, plunging from one action-packed moment to the next – for anyone who has ever dreamed of this, this is a dream come true. Blood & Truth This is likely one of the gems in the world of virtual reality. This title offers a Hollywood blockbuster turned on its head, leaving no beloved action cliché untouched with exploding buildings, kidnappings, and stealth missions. Those who embrace the very simple yet fun gameplay will be guided through numerous lovingly crafted locations, always accompanied by perfectly fitting music and impressive sound effects. A truly immersive VR experience!

Beat Saber

Finally, we come to a title that the general public is probably most familiar with when it comes to VR games. Beat Saber is a rhythm and music game that essentially captures the fascination of previous games in this genre, such as... Guitar Hero, and transports it into the VR headset. In tunnel-like levels, it's up to you to slice through oncoming cubes with two lightsabers at the right moment and in the right direction to score as many points as possible. The focus of the whole experience is on the few sound effects when wielding the lightsabers and, above all, the music, where you can choose between the game's original sounds or from numerous songs from our music universe.

Because so many players can cut through their favorite songs and it never really gets boring, this is probably the game on this list with the broadest potential for interest. Beat Saber It's no longer a small VR title; especially in Asia, the game has so thoroughly captured the hearts of players that there's hardly an arcade or similar establishment where one isn't tucked away in some corner. Beat Saber The game awaits its next challenger.

I also thought Batman: Arkham VR was pretty cool. Since you don't move around and can only look around from fixed positions, it's also suitable for getting started with VR (less movement leads to less motion sickness).
