Under the EA Originals label, independent projects are released from time to time, such as the recent 'Fe' or the upcoming 'A Way Out'from Hazelight. However, the publisher doesn't seem to have any financial incentive to do so.
While it's rare to get insight into the financial agreements between a publisher and a developer, Hazelight Studios has now revealed that EA won't earn a single dollar from their project. This is according to Game Director Josef Fares, who will be keeping all the revenue as developers themselves. All they'll receive from EA is support.
Zudem Fares explainsEA didn't even question the game's vision, which they wouldn't allow anyway. They were there the entire way. "super supportive" It was so popular that there were no objections to the Friends Pass, where only one person needs to own the game and can then invite their friends to play through it completely.
A Way Out will be released on March 23, 2018.
