Devolver Digital and Slocap will be unleashing their fists this August with the release of the online combat game 'Absolver' for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A new trailer, showcasing the intricacies of the combat system, has also been released today.
Absolver puts players behind the mask of a Prospect – a character who has taken a sacred vow and joined the Prospects, an elite unit of combatants fighting to restore balance to the world. As a Prospect, you choose a combat style, each with its own special abilities, and create a personalized Combat Deck for intense, real-time battles. You can venture out alone or with friends, find a mentor for sparring, and learn how to become an even better warrior.
The new Absolver trailer released today delves deeper into the details, giving players a good overview of each unique combat style and the abilities available. At the start of each journey, players choose one of three combat styles – with even more variations waiting to be discovered in the world of Adal. Each of the three initial combat styles offers special abilities and improves specific character attributes depending on the chosen playstyle.
- Kahlt method – Take hits without being dazed or staggering backwards – and you'll receive new energy for every successful counter-attack.
- Forsaken – Powerful and balanced – Prospects can parry enemy attacks and even briefly stun their opponents.
- Windfall With great skill and determination, prospects can avoid enemy attacks and then leave their opponents open to a strong counterattack.
The trailer also outlines the Combat Deck. The Combat Deck is essentially the inventory of all attacks that the player can use during combat. Each deck consists of four different gaits, each offering a variety of attacks. Players can choose attacks and gaits to create their own unique fighting style. These individual and readily available adjustments make players unpredictable to their opponents. Furthermore, players can unlock new attacks during combat or recruit a mentor who reveals new strategies – such partnerships are important for skillfully expanding one's abilities and knowledge.
When it is released on August 29th, players and those with a fighting spirit can then decide which path to take.
