Devolver Digital today released the free expansion 'Downfall' for their combat title 'Absolver' and presents it in a brand new trailer.
Downfall begins with an Etheran named Iktar contacting the Absolvers with a chilling warning. His brother, Arcell, is spreading Gleam deep within the Adalier mines and gaining increasing power over the Lost Prospects. The barrier to the Fold could also be shattered, causing physical realities to implode into abstractions and concepts. However, a path to the Fold and to Arcell can be found beyond the subterranean temples, where the truth resides, in a place where the fabric of reality is being torn apart.
In terms of gameplay, you'll explore the mines of Adal as a solo warrior or in online co-op mode, collecting Gleam from the infected Prospects and reaping rewards for your deeds. The more Gleam you gather, the stronger you'll become in the fight against the Corrupted and even Arcell himself. Each run through the mines and temples is a unique journey through a variety of challenges and situations, confronting you with enhanced enemies and three epic boss battles.
New Faejin fighting style
Inspired by Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do, the Faejin combat style combines defense and offense with percussive strikes and fluid power. This new approach is a complex style for experienced graduates, featuring diverse defensive skills that depend on both inputs and stances. Faejin will include 26 attacks for bare hands and war gloves, as well as 15 sword attacks.
School Challenges
The Downfall expansion also introduces a new way for players and schools to compete against each other, called School Challenges. Graduates who have reached student rank at a school (or are mentors themselves) can participate in School Challenges by using their school's decks and powers in 1v1 battle trials. All victories representing their school count towards the school's challenges. Individual and collective school performances also yield new rewards every three weeks at the end of the season.
New equipment
In addition to new game modes, fighting styles, and School Challenges, the Downfall expansion also introduces new equipment, including six brand-new complete sets (a total of 51 pieces of equipment) and two Prestige variants of existing sets, which can be found in the Essence Shop. New masks can also be found in the mines of Adal, along with new War Gloves and swords, plus six new emotes and three new PvP intros.
