As a highlight, 'Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown' brings a small VR campaign this week, which Bandai Namco is taking a closer look at today.

The goal of the VR campaign was to give the player the view of a pilot from the cockpit perspective – from the first moment you see your fighter jet, through everything that happens around you during takeoff, to the experience of sitting behind the controls and taking off. In the end, you can expect a 360° experience high above the clouds that is unique to date.

The PSVR campaign promises a dedicated single-player mode that is completely different from the main campaign. Your mission begins in 2014, five years before the events of Ace Combat 7. You take on the role of a legendary Mobius 1 and fight against the Free Erusea uprising.

The biggest difference when playing in VR is that you have to be more aware of what you're doing. You have to keep an eye on the entire cockpit, the direction you're flying, displays like ammunition, radar, flares, and the damage to your aircraft. The key word here is immersion, because all the levers, gauges, acceleration, body movements, and more happen in real time right before your eyes.
