As of today, Wednesday, Sony has made some changes to the terms and conditions for the PlayStation Network, which are particularly geared towards PlayStation Plus and the upcoming launch of the PS5.

The statement specifically mentions that online multiplayer will continue to be accessible only with an active PlayStation subscription. Previously, there were reports that Sony might remove this requirement to better compete with Xbox Live.

In detail, it states:

"Online multiplayer mode can only be used if you (or another user whose account has your console set as 'primary console', or if the 'Offline & Homeshare' setting is enabled on your PS5) have an active PlayStation Plus subscription."

There's also a change to PlayStation Plus, with users now being notified of any changes at least 60 days in advance. This particularly affects price increases, which Sony reserves the right to implement at any time.

"We will notify you by email at least 60 days before any price increase. You can cancel your subscription before the price increase takes effect."

Anyone who buys a PlayStation Plus subscription for one year as usual can of course use it until then, regardless of what they paid for it.
