More depth, more tension, less grind

The original Alien: Fireteam Elite It was a solid co-op shooter that appealed primarily to fans of the franchise, but quickly lost depth in terms of gameplay mechanics. With the sequel, Cold Iron Studios apparently intends to address precisely this issue.

The previous leak He spoke of new gameplay elements such as interactive NPCs, optional routes, and improved enemy AI, all designed to make missions more varied. Particularly exciting is the new "Annihilation" mode, which expands the familiar horde principle with mission objectives and dynamic encounters – a clever move to maintain long-term motivation.

Five classes, clear roles, no microtransactions

Instead of freely createable characters, it uses Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 The system focuses on five defined archetypes of the so-called Dagger Company – specialists, each with their own signature weapon and exclusive abilities. This suggests a stronger team identity and could significantly deepen the interplay within the squad.

A positive aspect is that, according to the leak, Cold Iron Studios will forgo microtransactions and loot boxes. Additional content will be released traditionally via story DLCs, an approach that many fans are likely to welcome.

Another detail that shows the focus on modern co-op design: platform-specific voice options like Discord integration on PS5 and Xbox are intended to facilitate communication. Together with new navigation and exploration elements, this should make the game feel more immersive, less pure "run and gun," and more tactical team play.

Hope for a major breakthrough

Is still Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Not officially announced, but the ESRB rating And the information available so far clearly indicates that a reveal could be imminent. If Cold Iron Studios delivers on its promise of a more exciting, dynamic, and fairer co-op experience, this sequel could become what the first game aspired to be – a true classic for sci-fi shooter fans.

What do you think? Should Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Focus more on story or tactical gameplay?

I'd welcome more focus on the story. I bought the first part on sale; the gameplay was rather monotonous and the graphics outdated. I'm currently playing the Alien non-VR game, which is also great, especially graphically.
