By now, not only are potential PS5 buyers completely annoyed by scalpers, bots & Co., but Sony is too. is now venting his anger about itHowever, there is now a solution that would at least ensure greater fairness.

Last year, it was perfectly understandable that, given the pandemic, Sony wanted to avoid such unpleasant scenes as those seen at the PS4 launch. However, the initial rush for the PS5 ended seven months ago, and yet Sony is sticking to its plan to offer the PS5 exclusively through online sales. There was even talk of penalties for retailers who tried to distribute the PS5 through traditional channels.

Why make it so complicated? Instead, everyone is complaining that online shops are sold out within minutes every time, leaving genuinely interested buyers no chance against bots. The lack of PS5 consoles can only be partially the reason, since... more sold since launch, than was the case with the PS4 at the same time. They only end up at the "wrong people"If one understands Sony in reverse."

Trade brings more fairness

If Sony were to deliver a single shipment of PS5 consoles, estimated at between 5.000 and 10.000 units, to Media Markt stores, for example, each branch in Germany could be equipped with well over 20 PS5 consoles. This would prevent any scramble for them and instead allow for an orderly distribution – partly through in-store pre-orders, and partly through a random selection process. At the very least, it would offer a realistic chance of getting one, preventing customers from becoming completely frustrated.

It's almost mocking that there are sleek PS5 demo stations and games on the shelves everywhere, but the actual hardware has never even been inside the store. Even the sales staff are baffled and can't find an explanation. Instead, they've simply put up signs stating that they have no PS5 consoles for sale.

Microsoft has now managed to ship the first Xbox Series X consoles to regular retailers. While not yet in unlimited quantities, this at least signals that the hardware is indeed available.

It remains unclear when Sony will release the product for regular retail sale. The next step is planned. direct sales in EuropeWhile this offers some hope, it should not be considered a final solution.

Until then, all we can do is hope to get lucky online eventually. The next drop is sure to come.

You only have to look at how the bots work… they automatically search all the shops and make purchases on their own… even the retailers can't manage to implement security checks…
