Panache Digital Games and Private Division can today confirm the release dates of their ambitious project 'Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey', which will be released in December for PS4 and Xbox One.
In Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, players face the challenge of surviving and evolving in the beautiful yet harsh environment of Africa between ten and two million years BC. In this innovative take on the open-world survival genre, players explore Neogene Africa as the ape-like ancestors of humankind. As the game progresses, they expand their territory and evolve to survive and ensure the continuation of their clan. The game and its mechanics are built around evolution, exploration, and survival. Players traverse a variety of terrains and environments, encounter diverse predators, and learn new skills to pass on to the next generation of their family group.
“Our goal with Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is to offer players a completely new experience,” said Patrice Désilets, co-founder and creative director of Panache Digital Games. “Our small team is creating an ambitious, immersive game with a unique setting that will captivate players of all kinds. We are very much looking forward to opening our world to them later this year.”
“Private Division and Panache Digital Games share a passion for providing players with the best possible gaming experience,” explains Kari Toyama, Senior Producer at Private Division. “We support Panache as a partner and give the studio all the time it needs to release all versions of Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey to the quality standard the team has set for itself. As a publisher focused on development, this is a crucial approach when working with smaller, independent studios.”
To mark the release announcement, today not only the key artwork (see above) is being shown, but also the second episode of the three-part video series with Patrice Désilets is being released, which goes into more detail about the unique mechanics and concepts of the game.
