Panache Digital Games and Private Division have released the console version of 'Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey'. In the game, players experience the early stages of human evolution as it took place millions of years ago, fighting against a harsh and brutal world to ensure the survival of their species.

Players begin ten million years ago as an ape – these hominids are our earliest known ancestors – and swing through the treetops of a jungle teeming with dangerous predators such as giant pythons, saber-toothed tigers, deadly alligators, and other beasts. Players must not only master their character but also learn about the environment. By carefully analyzing and exploring their surroundings, players must ensure the survival of their clan and, in doing so, develop their ape's abilities.

“Ancestors is a story co-written by the player,” said Patrice Désilets, co-founder and creative director of Panache Digital Games. “We’ve created a world where players can freely explore and develop the narrative they control. The game is a unique challenge, and we give players a lot of freedom to explore and learn on their own. This makes every discovery and achievement incredibly valuable.”

The player chooses how to develop the neural network, unlocking a range of role-playing elements that enhance various abilities. This individualized approach strengthens the clan's motor skills, sharpens the senses, boosts intelligence, and facilitates better communication within the tribe. The goal is to elevate the clan to a more advanced species through the player's decisions and actions throughout the game. Ultimately, the player determines whether their clan's genetic makeup prevails or becomes extinct.

Since its PC release a few weeks ago, the game has received additional features, including new objectives, pop-up tutorials, new menus for RPG, Generation and Evolution, and various bug fixes.
