One of the first games we had presented to us at gamescom this year was "Dead Island 2", which is being developed by the Berlin-based studio and the Spec Ops creators Yager.

The original concept of Dead Island was brilliant: a comfortable environment on a tropical island practically overrun with zombies. At the same time, the game, then developed by Techland, was so frustrating in terms of gameplay that it quickly became unappealing. Even with the sequel, 'Riptide', Techland hadn't learned from its mistakes. Dying in a game has never been more pointless, and the mindless, hack-and-slash approach lived up to its name.

Now, with "Dead Island 2" A change was underway in the series; everything was a bit more colorful, with cooperative hack-and-slash gameplay and a clear focus on fun. With a total of eight players, we were thrown into a section of California with the goal of mowing down everything that moves and doesn't look human. Equipped with a machete and a pistol, the first order of business was upgrading them. A variety of individual components were scattered around an electronics store, which were automatically picked up and instantly upgraded your weapon the more you collected. With about 30 of these parts, my machete had already been transformed into an electric smasher, capable of taking down zombies and the like much faster. Of course, the weapons degrade over time, and you have to collect more components to upgrade them again. You could compare it to a typical health bar that can be replenished with new medkits. "Dead Island 2" Furthermore, it once again features a wide variety of characters, each with their own play styles and weapons, ensuring plenty of variety from the very first minute.

Additionally, many weapons are simply lying around in the level sections, from gas cylinders to exotic killer gadgets reminiscent of "Dead Rising." These are precisely what make the game so fun, and it's probably never been more enjoyable to surrender to this bloodlust. Certainly, the support of your co-op partners also brings this certain feeling of all-out mayhem to life. You'll also need their help, as not all zombies can be dispatched with a single shot or a run-kick. Significantly larger and more difficult zombie types appear, which even three or four players will struggle to defeat. "Dead Island 2" It looks like it's going to be pure fun; the frustration level from the first games has been significantly reduced, and they don't seem to be skimping on humor either, as the first trailers for the game promise. So far, Yager has done everything right with this game.

Graphically speaking, it builds "Dead Island 2" Built on Unreal Engine 4, the game doesn't rely on consistently high-resolution textures or anything like that. On the contrary, the game captures the slightly tropical climate of California, constantly giving you the feeling of that scorching heat. Furthermore, the typical American flair is emphasized, and a touch of retro style is offered. However, there's still time until the spring 2015 release, and Yager definitely has room for improvement regarding the visual presentation. "Dead Island 2" As.
