Even though there won't be a full-fledged Assassin's Creed game this year, you don't have to completely do without the franchise.

As publisher Ubisoft announced at the start of GDC this week, they are currently working on an Assassin's Creed VR experience, which will be released later this year. The development involves the media companies Fox and Practical Magic, who are building on the planned theatrical film rather than focusing solely on a game.

“A cinematic VR experience was filmed alongside the movie, in every location. We are working really hard to create a VR experience that is on par with the motion-picture experience.” said Matthew Lewis, President, Practical Magic VR & Director of VR Experiences.

Further details about the Assassin's Creed VR Experience are not yet available, so we will have to wait for further announcements from Ubisoft. It is also still unclear which platforms Ubisoft will support with the project.
