Mentor role for Ezio Auditore despite timeline challenge

Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming elaborates in a Podcast The plans for the protagonist Ella, who is hunted in the Holy Roman Empire due to her supernatural abilities, are still underway. Ubisoft originally planned to introduce Ezio Auditore as a mentor midway through the game to initiate Ella into the Brotherhood and bring the title closer to traditional gameplay mechanics. However, this decision presents historical challenges.

While Ezio died in 1524, the great witch hunts in the Holy Roman Empire didn't reach their peak until the 1560s. Ubisoft has to decide here whether to stretch historical accuracy for the sake of fan service or simply show Ezio in flashbacks or as a very old man at the end of his life.
