Yesterday, Ubisoft released the first trailer for Assassin's Creed III, which will take you back to the time of the American Revolution at the end of October.
Assassin's Creed III uses a new version of the Anvil Engine, which Ubisoft itself describes as "revolutionary game engine" It was described as being capable of rendering battles of a thousand men. The core engineering team behind Assassin's Creed II began work on the technology, not shying away from what the engine could achieve.
"It's a little scary to say, but I think the goal was to see next-gen gaming on current consoles," said creative director Alex Hutchinson. "Our goal is to create something completely new, while still remaining true to the franchise. People want that familiar feel, but also something radically new. So we have the familiar pillars of combat, navigation, and social stealth, but completely new environments and completely new ways to use and expand upon them."
Once again, the goal is to attract new fans to the franchise while simultaneously offering elements that long-time fans appreciate.
