Ubisoft wants to Assassin's CreedThe series is apparently moving even further towards a live service game, comparable to Call of duty warzoneInstead of presenting a complete story, the title unfolds across various historical settings.
This is currently being reported Bloomberg, after which the project was moved to Ubisoft Montreal (Valhalla) and Ubisoft Quebec (Odyssey) is in progress. Therefore, it serves Assassin's Creed Infinity as a live service platform to which individual projects are connected. However, each of these projects should feel absolutely unique.
While the two studios will remain independent in principle, they will likely operate as a single unit for Assassin's Creed Infinity, with some restructuring in order to... "To be able to work in a more integrated and collaborative way, and to be less focused on the studios and more on talent and leadership, regardless of where they are at Ubisoft."
The idea behind this “never-ending” Assassins CreedHowever, the project wasn't well received by all developers, which is why some likely left the studios, partly because these mammoth projects were starting to overwhelm them. Furthermore, it's known that the two studios don't get along very well and tend to compete with each other.
Restructuring due to workplace incidents
Another reason why such a restructuring of the studios is taking place is still said to be the accusations against Ubisoft of not doing enough to combat the misconduct of some employees in the workplace, even though they assure that they investigate all incidents and react accordingly.
It also states:
“Every employee who faced allegations and remains with Ubisoft has had their case thoroughly reviewed by a third party and has either been exonerated or subjected to appropriate disciplinary action. Employees who were investigated would not remain with Ubisoft if the results of the investigation justified termination.”
The launch of Assassin's Creed Infinity However, it is said to be years away. Ubisoft itself has not yet commented further on the report, but confirms its existence, as well as its plans to exceed fan expectations.
UpdateUbisoft has now confirmed its plans for Assassin's Creed Infinity. The full article is available here. directly from UbisoftHere is the relevant excerpt:
“Instead of passing the baton from game to game, we firmly believe this is an opportunity for one of Ubisoft’s most beloved franchises to evolve in a more integrated and collaborative way, one that is less studio-centric and more focused on talent and leadership, regardless of where they are within Ubisoft. Most importantly, Assassin’s Creed has always been developed by multicultural teams with diverse backgrounds and perspectives, which has influenced the portrayal of its characters, locations, and cultures. While we know there’s always room for improvement, we believe this new structure will allow us to ensure that diversity and representation within our teams continue to grow and reflect that of our players.”
