Ubisoft takes another big step with "Assassin's Creed Shadows" and presents a unique protagonist duo: the ninja fighter Naoe and the samurai Yasuke. Their story is not only one of opposites, but also one of duty, betrayal and ultimately a shared mission. Ubisoft once again introduces the backgrounds of the two characters and reveals one or two exciting details.

At the same time, the publisher emphasizes that although they are sticking to the historical guidelines as far as possible and trying to reproduce them, "Assassin's Creed Shadows" but still remains an entertainment product, that allows itself creative freedom.

Naoe - The Shadow Warrior

Naoe is a ninja from the mountainous province of Iga, known for her deadly precision and mastery of stealth and assassination. Her father, Fujibayashi Nagato, was a key figure in the Iga Ikkia, a guerrilla force notorious for its resistance tactics. Under his leadership, she learned not only how to fight, but also the values that make a true shinobi: Bravery, compassion and wisdom.

Her skills make her the ideal assassin. She can move silently through enemy territory, climb high walls and deliver deadly blows before disappearing into the darkness again. Her Assassin Shinobi outfit enhances these qualities and gives her an extra edge in the art of stealth.

But Naoe is not just fighting for personal revenge or glory - she is a warrior for her people. When Nobunaga's army conquers her homeland, she realizes that the enemy is far greater than a single warlord.

Yasuke - The warrior of honor

On the other side of the conflict is Yasuke, a powerful samurai who serves the legendary Oda Nobunaga. His strength lies not in guile, but in direct confrontation. Where Naoe glides through shadows, Yasuke makes his way with brute strength. Equipped with heavy weapons, he is a walking battlefield who hardly gives his opponents a chance.

Yasuke is a historical figure and one of the most fascinating personalities that "Assassin's Creed Shadows" brings to life, even if this is in the past. has led to differing opinions in the community. His journey begins as a loyal samurai, but he is soon confronted with the dark reality of power. Nobunaga's campaign of conquest leaves a trail of destruction in its wake - including the province of Iga, Naoe's homeland.

From enemy to ally

What makes "Assassin's Creed Shadows" particularly exciting is the dynamic between these two opposing characters. At first, they are on different sides: Yasuke as a tool of conquest, Naoe as a resistance fighter. But through a common enemy - the Templars, who are pulling their strings in the background - they eventually find each other.

Their skills complement each other perfectly: Naoe sneaks through the shadows, infiltrates enemy camps and silently eliminates her targets. Yasuke, on the other hand, storms through the front door, draws his powerful weapons and wreaks havoc. Players can switch seamlessly between the two and tackle each mission in their own way.

The bigger goal

But the real battle only begins when the true enemy is revealed: the Western colonial powers and their connection to the Knights Templar. While Japan is embroiled in internal power struggles, the Templars seize the opportunity to extend their control. Naoe and Yasuke oppose oppression, not just as assassins and samurai, but as warriors of a greater ideal. In the end, it's not where they come from, but what they fight for that counts.

With "Assassin's Creed Shadows", Ubisoft is focusing on a captivating story full of intrigue, battles and a deep historical context. Naoe and Yasuke are more than just game characters - they are symbols of an eternal struggle for freedom and justice.

"Assassin's Creed Shadows" will be released on March 20, 2025.
