Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment today From the Ashes, a new action-adventure expansion for Avatars: Frontiers of Pandora, announced. The expansion will be released on December 19th, exactly the same day as the theatrical release of James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash – a double Pandora experience between the screen and the game world.
From the Ashes It takes players back to the Western Frontier, including Kinglor Forest and an entirely new area. The narrative revolves around So'lek, a battle-hardened Na'vi warrior of the Trr'ong Clan. After being ambushed by the RDA and their new allies, the ruthless Ash Clan, So'lek awakens to a burning world, his family scattered. Driven by revenge and a desire to protect his loved ones, he embarks on a gripping journey across Pandora – dark, intense, and emotional.
Omar Bouali, Creative Director at Massive Entertainment, describes the expansion as follows: "With From the Ashes, we wanted to expand the boundaries of what players can experience on Pandora. The new story is personal and dark, combining first- and third-person perspectives and incorporating new combat mechanics that bring emotional and tactical depth." Players can therefore immerse themselves in So'lek's adventures in both story-driven and action-packed ways.
The collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney ensures a close connection to the cinematic universe. Joshua Izzo, Executive VP at Lightstorm, emphasizes: "This expansion sheds light on darker corners of Pandora and introduces the fearsome Ash Clan. Players will experience undiscovered stories through new interactive adventures." Luigi Priore from Disney & Pixar Games adds: "From the Ashes shows how we work with our partners to develop unique stories rooted in beloved worlds."
The expansion is available both as a standalone purchase for owners of the base game and as part of the new From the Ashes-Edition, which additionally includes the base game and the "Floating Mountains Bonus Content". The latter comprises three Banshee color schemes, inspired by the Valley of Mo'ara.
Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment aren't delivering a mere DLC here, but a full-fledged chapter that is emotionally gripping and simultaneously connects the game universe with the film. Avatars: Frontiers of Pandora Anyone who liked this shouldn't miss it. The combination of story, new area, and improved combat mechanics makes it From the Ashes a clear highlight for the end of the year.
