In a official opinion Larian Studios explained that the patch was not only released accidentally, but could also be potentially destructive to your hard-earned save files. Anyone who thought an RPG was the epitome of epic adventures has clearly never tried to retrieve their database from the digital afterlife.
Back to Patch 7 – the new Survival Mode
According to Larian, there's no way around a complete uninstall and reinstall to get rid of the unwanted Patch 8. Sounds tedious? Well, that's the least of your worries. The real tragedy is that save games created or modified with Patch 8, Not compatible with Patch 7 That means: Your epic level 12 mage? Gone. Your painstakingly collected loot? Goodbye. Your 80 hours of playtime? A case for the history books – or rather, the digital catastrophic wasteland.
"We warned you!" – Of course, Larian has everything under control – at least on paper. "We cannot guarantee that save games created with this version will remain compatible." An involuntary hardcore mode?
