A "modern" Battlefield – with a learning curve?

Insider Tom Henderson recently revealed that the game is undergoing intensive testing. The rumored free-to-play battle royale mode, in particular, is being put through its paces. The goal of these measures: to prevent the fiasco of "Battlefield 2042“not to be repeated.”
Lessons from the past?
A look at the series' history shows that problematic launches are almost a tradition. "Battlefield 4" (2013) had such a bumpy start that EA itself described the game's state as "unacceptable."
