The creators of the successful VR rhythm game 'Beat Games' have been bought by Facebook, although this will not initially change anything regarding support for other platforms.
The acquisition of Beat Games is primarily intended to further advance their own VR division, centered around Oculus. In a statement is it [called to:
“The shared experiences with games are unforgettable, and for millions of people, Beat Saber was their first encounter with immersive VR gaming. Today, we announce that Beat Games will be joining us to bring VR to more people around the world. They will join Oculus Studios as an independently managed studio in Prague and continue to create new ways for people to experience music and VR games. Most importantly, what the community loved about Beat Saber will remain intact.”
Support for PlayStation VR and similar platforms will continue. Regarding future projects, it remains to be seen whether other platforms will continue to be supported. However, Facebook is not as restrictive in this regard as, for example, Microsoft.
