There are games that have been around in the industry for so long that you hardly believe you'll ever get your hands on them again. Beyond Good & Evil 2 It definitely belongs in this category. Now Ubisoft Montpellier is sending another sign of life. A new job posting shows that work on the project is still ongoing, not just in any way, but in an area that lies deep within the core of production.

Ubisoft is looking for reinforcements – and reveals more than expected.

According to current tender Ubisoft is looking for a Technical Sound Designer for Beyond Good & Evil 2This might sound like standard recruiting, but it says a lot about the state of the game. Someone who fills a key audio role in the middle of production isn't working on concepts, but on systems that will later support the entire gaming experience – mixing pipelines, Wwise implementations, CPU management, soundscapes for UI, animations, vehicles, or space environments.

This indirectly confirms that the team is still working on a functional build. This is significant because not many projects maintain this kind of continuous technical work after more than 15 years of development.

Between hope, staff changes and record development time

The history of Beyond Good & Evil 2 It's now almost as legendary as the vision itself. A first teaser sign of life in 2008, a comeback in 2017, followed by years of small updates, and always the impression that Ubisoft hasn't given up on the game, but constantly has to reorganize it. The loss of Creative Director Emile Morel in 2023 was a particularly heavy blow.

Im Autumn 2024 Fawzi Mesmar eventually took over creative direction. Since then, communication has been cautious but consistent. The game exists, work is actively underway, and the new job posting confirms just that.

Realistically speaking, Beyond Good & Evil 2 It remains a mammoth project. A new Technical Sound Designer won't work miracles, but the role demonstrates that Ubisoft is investing resources instead of quietly shelving the project. The description of the open world, the Voyager engine, and the cooperative space exploration still seems ambitious, perhaps even more so than some current Ubisoft games.

The big question remains: Will this eventually become a modern space adventure, or is the game already a symbol of what production hells can do?
