Although there have been several leaks about 'BioShock: The Collection', including specific details, there is still no official announcement from 2K Games.

Industry insiders are also puzzled by this, assuring everyone that a corresponding collection is on its way, but unable to explain what publisher 2K Games is waiting for. Here's what the insider known as 'shinobi602' had to say:

“Oh, it will happen. Quite simply, I was also somewhat surprised when they published their annual report and said it wouldn't be released before the end of the year. I don't know what they're waiting for.”

Further speculation suggests that 2K Games is working on something much bigger, possibly a new BioShock game, which they might announce alongside the collection. This could be developed at 2K Marin Studio, now that Irrational Games no longer exists in its original form. This doesn't mean a new BioShock is out of the question, but it shouldn't be expected at this year's E3.

Confirmed for this year's E3 from 2K Games so far are Mafia III, NBA 2K17, XCOM 2 for consoles, Battleborn and possibly a new game from Rockstar.
