Few PlayStation games have become as much of a myth as... BloodborneFans have been clamoring for years for a remaster, a remake, or at least a patch that would allow the Gothic nightmare of Yharnam to be experienced on the PS5 at 60 FPS. But despite all the rumors about upcoming showcases, Sony doesn't seem to be preparing anything of the sort.
According to the Insider sources The situation is clear: absolutely nothing is happening. No remaster, no remake, no sequel. A real blow for everyone who hopes for a surprise at every new Sony event.
Why Sony still holds the upper hand
In theory, FromSoftware wouldn't even need to be involved. Sony owns the rights to the brand and already has Bluepoint Games, a studio with experience in remaking major classics (Demon's Souls (Greetings). Nevertheless, the project doesn't even seem to be on the table.
Meanwhile, FromSoftware continues to work on Elden Ring: Nightreign and a new Switch 2 game – so a return to Yharnam is a long way off. Therefore, it's entirely up to Sony whether and when anything happens.
A classic that's slipping through our fingers
The bitter truth: Bloodborne It's still playable, either via PS4 disc or download on the PS5. However, the technical limitation remains at 30 FPS, and that makes the game feel outdated today.
The hardcore community keeps the flame alive, but Sony doesn't seem to see this as an incentive, but rather as proof that the title can survive without investment. Perhaps they're deliberately calculating: as long as the longing remains strong, a potential comeback can generate even more attention.
Whether Sony is deliberately waiting for the perfect moment or simply has no interest remains unclear. For fans, the result is the same: a game they love, but can't experience to the full potential of the hardware.
Perhaps the real question is not whether Bloodborne will return, but when – and whether we will still be burning with passion as we are today.
There are so many great franchises Sony owns that could be rebooted, remade, or remastered, but no, we get the umpteenth Last of Us or Horizon port, even though the games don't need it and it's pointless. What about Killzone? And I mean real Killzone, not some sci-fi-style carnival shooter. Other people want a Resistance comeback or Infamous from the PS3 era. Motorstorm. More Ratchet & Clank games, Jak & Dexter, or Sly Cooper.
