Gearbox today announced the first in-game event for 'Borderlands 3', which will terrify players this October. The 'Bloody Harvest' event takes place just in time for Halloween and promises new legendary weapons, outfits, enemies, skins, and much more.
Also included is the new Bloody Harvest map, complete with fire-breathing Rakk-O lanterns and a pit of blood-soaked streams where you'll face and defeat your first enemies. These enemies aren't instantly dead, however, but immediately return as ghosts. You'll need to be quick, precise, and skillful with your weapons to finally send these paranormal beings to their doom. Of course, they're not entirely defenseless and will try to obscure your vision with a spooky fog. The reward at the end is Hecktoplasm, which you can exchange for a new character in Sanctuary 3.
A boss fight against Captain Traunt, also known as Skeleton Captain Haunt, awaits you at this event, returning with new and gruesome abilities. If you can banish him back to hell, you'll be rewarded with, among other things, an ECHO Device skin, a weapon trinket, new skins for every Vault Hunter, a global weapon skin, and much more.
Gearbox promises that more of these free updates will follow, while they intend to forgo general and new characters. According to Gearbox, there isn't much player interest in them, which is why the current four Vault Hunters will remain.
