Capcom: Digital revenues expected to reach 50 percent by 2017

Capcom's Senior Vice President, Christian Svensson, stated at GDC that the company aims to generate 50 percent of its revenue from digital content by 2017.

"And in the next five years from today, every game will certainly be available as a digital download and as a disc version on its initial release date," so Svensson. "This is already the case on some platforms, such as the PlayStation Vita – and in Europe the PS3 is also well on its way there."

Specialty retailers will become increasingly less important and dependent on impulse purchases. According to Capcom, planned purchases will increasingly be made online.
