Capcom has found its cash cow, but now the accountants are in charge. An insider leak hints at Leon and Claire's future – and it hinges on a massive data analysis in 2027. This follows the speculation... Code: Veronica Remake.
While we are in Resident Evil Requiem Even before the new mutants are causing panic, the bosses in Osaka are already crunching the hard numbers. (Insider Dusk Golem) claimsCapcom is planning a massive strategy meeting for 2027. There will be no dice rolling, only calculations.
The algorithm decides on the horror
Capcom is a "data-driven company." That's PR jargon for: We analyze every click and every copy sold. Only when the trend is upward do we give the green light to the next project. That's not courage, that's statistics.
The potential remake of Code: Veronica It seems a done deal. Claire and Chris on Rockfort Island in the modern RE Engine? That could be truly amazing. Release supposedly in the first half of 2027. But the success of this title will decide everything. Will the old-school feel resonate? Or will people crave action like in...? Resident Evil 6Capcom measures everything. Data has no soul.
Resident Evil Requiem It currently has a Metascore of 88 and is being celebrated by you with a 9.5 on Metacritic. my review It received a solid 9. But if Capcom only develops based on Excel spreadsheets and analyses, they risk the heart of the series.
They check the figures from Part 4 and Part 9 to pave the way for Resident Evil 10 or the next remake (Resident evil zero to pave the way (in 2028). If a movement feature is annoying, it gets removed. Are puzzles too difficult for the general public? Soften them up. Data doesn't lie, but it also has no soul.
Capcom is currently running the series like a well-oiled sports car. It's efficient and is delivering top titles one after another. But the total reliance on data for 2027 could mean we only get what's guaranteed to sell. Experiments? Forget it. I want horror that surprises me. Not some computer-generated scare software.
Do you trust Capcom's strategy, or will Resident Evil lose its soul as a result?
I've trusted Capcom since Resident Evil 7. They know exactly what they're doing, whether it's Resident Evil, DMC, Street Fighter, Monster Hunter, you name it. I'd even take a Resident Evil 6 remake in REEngine; it just needs to be done so that each campaign is a different game. They did a good job with Requiem. I also enjoyed the gameplay sections featuring Grace, but I only found her as a character okay. Capcom doesn't need to choose; they just need to maintain the gameplay and technical quality, and then the numbers will add up.
