Capcom plans to strengthen its core brands in the long term and explicitly lists "Dragon's Dogma," "Dead Rising," and "Okami" among the company's future growth drivers. Despite personnel changes, the current annual report signals that these franchises will remain an integral part of the future publishing strategy.

Capcom has addressed the doubts surrounding the future of "Dragon's Dogma." Following the departure of director Hideaki Itsuno, many fans feared the series would stagnate. However, its classification as a "Leading Brand" in the latest financial report proves otherwise. Capcom needs strong franchises beyond Resident Evil and Monster Hunter to generate sustained growth. These include Devil May Cry, Mega Man, Onimusha, and Ace Attorney.

Especially with “Dragon's Dogma 2Post-launch support has so far fallen short of expectations for titles like "Street Fighter 6." The fact that the IP is now officially listed as a growth engine makes additional content or even a remake of the original game likely. Backend changes on Steam already hinted at this. Now the fiscal report provides the strategic foundation.

Focus on niches with potential

The mention of "Okami" and "Dead Rising" is also noteworthy. While "Dead Rising" recently showed signs of life with its deluxe remaster, the god-wolf Amaterasu has been silent for a long time. Capcom is clearly aiming to bring brands with strong visual appeal and loyal fanbases back into the spotlight.

This is a clear departure from solely focusing on the biggest blockbusters. They recognize the value of maintaining a broad portfolio instead of putting all their eggs in one basket. For gamers, this means more variety in the release calendar, even if franchises like Dino Crisis or Breath of Fire are still sorely missed.

Capcom's move is logical, but it carries risks. Brands like Okami and Dragon's Dogma thrive on their unique identity. Simply "maximizing IP value" shouldn't lead to a dilution of the game's identity in favor of mass appeal. The community expects innovation, not mass-produced goods.

Hello Capcom, I would like to:

Dino Crisis (remake or new)
New Dead Rising titles
Haunting Ground (remake or new)
Devil May Cry
Bionic Commando (new in 3D)
Lost planet 2 (steam or remake)
Lost Planet (new)

And for dessert, finally a decent Monster Hunter game again, without rushing, lousy multiplayer and annoying drama story... just like the Nintendo games.

Thanks… How long does it take approximately?

I won't live forever and I still have so much to do <3

I can sign off on that with two additions: Breath of Fire and Capcom vs. SNK3.
