The decision by 505 Games to only allow owners of the Controller Ultimate Edition a next-gen upgrade Granting this was not well received by fans of the original game and its Season Pass. It seems a solution may have been found for this now.
With today's release of the Controller Ultimate Edition It appears that all Season Pass owners have received a small upgrade on the disc version. Theoretically, this would mean they are now also eligible for the free next-gen upgrade. A quick look at the PlayStation Store should confirm this. Controller Ultimate Edition found in his library without having purchased them separately.
Here again is the official announcement of the Controller Ultimate Edition including next-gen upgrade:
"Players who purchase the Control Ultimate Edition for PlayStation 4 will automatically receive a free PlayStation 5 optimized version of the Control Ultimate Edition when they upgrade to Sony's next-gen home console."
Physical versions of the Control Ultimate Edition for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be available in stores later this year; they too will offer an identical free upgrade path for players switching to next-gen consoles once those consoles are available.
505 Games will likely comment on this later today, perhaps reiterating the release of the Ultimate Edition.
