Today, with patch 1.10.00, “Crimson Desert” received a comprehensive overhaul of the “Re-Blockade” system as well as new endgame activities through two minigames, including a pinball game.
Developer Pearl Abyss is thus linking mechanical improvements to fresh progression paths that allow players to access high-level Abyss artifacts via new currencies.
Strategic hedging instead of grinding
The core system of "Renewed Blockade" has been structurally changed. Pearl Abyss adds two independent phases: "Combat" and "Rebuild." These phases divide the sequence of events before and after an enemy attack more logically than before.
This reduces the unpredictable pressure on the game world's infrastructure. Those who act strategically can completely circumvent the system grind. Through a region's contribution manager, targeted "protection" can now be requested for important bases. This completely prevents blockages from occurring in the first place, and liberating bases remains lucrative. It yields targeted contribution points, camp currency, and trade goods.
Gambling for high-end items
The update also shifts valuable rewards to two new minigames. The "Flipper" minigame is now available in the tavern at the Delesyan Institute. This game dispenses Marni coins, which serve as currency for a new exchange bureau.
At the Great Gate of Urd'avah, the minigame "Ball Band" awaits. Both activities are more than just busywork; they control the distribution of endgame items. These include Material Crates of Fortune, Abyss Artifacts, Equipment Blueprints, and specific cosmetic items for your home.
The movement in “Crimson Desert“This will also be tied to an active progression system. The wyvern and the kuku chick will be introduced as new creatures. Players cannot immediately ride the wyvern chick and the kuku pet; instead, they must actively raise them. The animals must be fed to maximize their growth. Only after reaching specific thresholds will the "Upgrade" option unlock their use as special mounts. Appropriate equipment, such as the wyvern saddle or the kuku chick's eggshell, will provide the necessary armor values.”
Bug fixes and control fixes
- The update overhauls the "Renewed Blockade" system with the new "Combat" and "Rebuild" phases.
- The minigames "Flipper" and "Ball Band" serve as a new source of Abyss artifacts and blueprints.
- Wyvern cubs and Kuku chicks are upgraded into fully-fledged mounts through a feeding and rearing system.
- Controller players can now fully customize the button mapping for "Power of the Axiom".
- A serious exploit that generated additional Legendary Fish when loading saved games has been permanently removed.
Pearl Abyss also fixes essential bugs in the combat mechanics. Bosses no longer damage themselves during certain attack animations. This previously prevented cleanly scaling boss fights. A frustrating bug in the boss arena has also been fixed. Players who change their elemental slots or ranged weapon ammo types during combat will now retain this configuration even after character death. This saves valuable preparation time on the second attempt.
Patch 1.10.00 delivers essential quality-of-life improvements. The blockade system loses its frustrating randomness thanks to the protection option. This is good news for players who prefer to manage their territories logically. Linking Abyss gear to tavern minigames is a matter of personal preference from a gameplay mechanic perspective. However, it provides solo players with a reliable alternative to challenging group instances. This update is a must-download. The stabilization of boss fights and the more flexible controller mapping noticeably enhance the gameplay depth of the combat system.
