The new Crimson Desert Update 1.12 is here. Pearl Abyss brings outdoor housing, dragon rides for companions, and optimized loading times.

Crimson Desert has received patch 1.12, which brings dragon rides for Damiane and Oongka as well as outdoor housing options.

Pearl Abyss has released its next weekly update for PC, consoles, and Mac, significantly increasing the usability of side characters and further reducing loading times. We've summarized the most important details here.

Dragon ride and housing in front of the hut

With Patch 1.12, the supporting characters Damiane and Oongka finally get closer to the main character, Cliff. Both companions can now equip Visiones, read memories, and ride the dragon Blackstar. While this might sound like minor details, it represents a massive improvement in the open-world environment of Pywel. Cliff himself receives five new helmets and armor, while Damiane gets new gloves. Additionally, the Greymane Signet Ring is now available to all characters as a new accessory.

When it comes to housing, you can now also customize the area outside your four walls. Pearl Abyss is providing 58 new objects for this purpose, including fountains, streetlights, and carpets. However, there's a catch. You can't simply craft these new items. First, you need to acquire the corresponding crafting books from vendors, claw machines, the new Lucky Box, or by rolling orbs. The items are then crafted at two new stations: the workbench and the loom.

Faster loading times and combat adjustments

Getting into the game is now faster, as Pearl Abyss has optimized loading times at the start of the game. The character loading screen is also now displayed correctly when loading as Oongka or Damiane. Furthermore, if you die in combat and attempt a boss again, you no longer need to readjust your settings. Observed knowledge, weapon swapping, elemental attributes, and quick-slot assignments now persist even after death.

Here's an overview of the five most important highlights of the patch:

  • Exterior Housing: 58 new decorative items and two new crafting stations (workbench and loom) for the outdoor area.
  • Companion upgrade: Damiane and Oongka can now ride the dragon Blackstar and use Visiones.
  • Fresh equipment: Five new helmets for Cliff, new gloves for Damiane, and a universal ring for all characters.
  • Better boss rematches: Settings for weapons, elements, and quick slots are retained after death in boss fights.
  • Optimization: Reduced loading times at game start and correct loading screens for the side characters.

Otherwise, the patch fixes a long list of bugs. Crashes when switching weapons after using Nature's Echo are a thing of the past, and stronghold rematches are now available even at locations undergoing reconstruction.

Pearl Abyss continues to maintain a damn good pace with Patch 1.12. While the update doesn't bring a gameplay revolution, it delivers the over six million players Since its release in March, the game has implemented precisely the detailed improvements the community requested. The harmonization of the supporting characters makes exploring the world significantly smoother. The foundation is solid, the weekly maintenance is excellent, and the announced story DLC can now be released.

How intensively do you use Damiane and Oongka in everyday open-world life, and do the new dragon rides now make them real alternatives to Cliff for you?
