Cronos: The New Dawn will receive the story DLC "Lazarus" in fall 2026. Bloober Team is bringing new gameplay mechanics, increased pace, and a fresh character.

Bloober Team will expand the sci-fi survival horror game "Cronos: The New Dawn" in autumn 2026 with the story DLC "Cronos: Lazarus".

The Polish developer uses the first DLC to introduce a noticeable shift in gameplay concept. While the main game focuses on methodical gameplay and resource management, the expansion shifts the focus to speed and aggression.

This time, players don't take on the role of the familiar protagonist, but instead control a modified Pathfinder on his journey to becoming the Warden. The setting remains the familiar wasteland, but new mechanics fundamentally change the dynamics of combat. The studio has thus altered the previous pacing.

Higher speed and invisibility instead of stealth

The new character features, among other things, enhanced movement patterns and technological aids that were locked in the main game. These include temporary invisibility and the ability to place decoys to distract enemies.

These mechanics are necessary because Bloober Team replaces the precise balancing of confrontations with constant, high-pressure threat scenarios. Despite the player character's physical limitations, the combat pace increases dramatically.

A new, adaptive enemy type acts as a direct counterpart, reacting specifically to the player's abilities. The developers promise large-scale, scripted boss battles. This shifts the game's focus from subtle horror to action-oriented survival. It remains to be seen whether the engine can handle this increased pace without sacrificing atmosphere on PC and current-gen consoles, including the Switch 2.

The Lazarus DLC It's not a classic "more of the same," but rather a playful counterpoint to the main game. For buyers, this means: those who loved the slow, oppressive tactics of "Cronos: The New Dawn" might be frustrated by the focus on action. Those looking for more dynamism will get it this fall.
