With Crysis 3, Crytek wants to push the boundaries of what is possible once again and promises an incredibly detailed environment that will even surpass Skyrim.
Crytek's Rasmus Højengaard stated this in an interview with games.on.net. According to him, environments are planned that are more detailed, but not as expansive as in Skyrim. This level of detail in the planned environment will create the desired richness, which was almost entirely lost in Skyrim.
In Crysis 2, with its urban ruin setting, this wasn't possible, so they want to explore it again. The atmosphere is extremely important, otherwise the game loses credibility. This includes depth, moving light waves, swaying plants, and even small animals hopping around that you can perhaps shoot with a bow. That's what excites people, and that's precisely the goal with Crysis 3.
Crysis 3 will be released in spring 2013.
