Crytek: The ban on used games was just a joke

Next few days Crytek's Rasmus Hojengaard drew some ire from players by stating that a ban on used games on consoles would be "fantastic".

Now they are backtracking somewhat and this statement was merely meant as a joke, as Hojengaard has now stated again.

"My comment in the interview of April 24th, which concerns the 'blocking of used games', was not intended to be taken seriously and does not reflect the views of Crytek."

Whether this clarification was demanded by his employers and was secretly meant that way, only Hojengaard himself probably knows. However, Crytek couldn't be blamed for making such statements, given that it was Crysis 2 that became the most illegally downloaded game of 2011.
