The Polish analysis firm Erste Brokerage is speculating on new expansions for “Cyberpunk 2077”, while the official channel of CD Projekt Red explicitly denies the development of further story content.
The analysts support their thesis The increased support costs for the sci-fi role-playing game, which have reached their highest level since the release of Phantom Liberty, were a point of contention. CD Projekt Red recently countered this, clarifying via the official X profile of the franchise that no DLCs or add-ons are currently in production for the game.
Driving force support costs
Erste Brokerage's calculations are based solely on financial data from the investor zone. Higher maintenance and support budgets point to two scenarios in the classic software lifecycle: either the unannounced production of new assets or a massive restructuring of the technical infrastructure. The analysts suspect that smaller content snippets will be outsourced to studios like Virtuos, which were recently used for patching and new dialogue recordings.
The code of “Cyberpunk 2077“It’s based on the outdated, in-house REDengine. The studio has long since completed the switch to Unreal Engine 5 for future major projects like “The Witcher 4” and “Cyberpunk 2”. Reactivating the REDengine for significant story content is uneconomical from a purely operational standpoint. On the other hand, a second expansion was originally planned, but then simply scrapped.”
The parallel to Witcher 3
That financial analysts can accurately anticipate CD Projekt Red's plans was recently demonstrated by the announcement of "The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past." Erste Brokerage correctly predicted the late expansion of the over eleven-year-old RPG for the year 2027.
In its latest quarterly report, the studio also announced that two as-yet-unnamed game projects have reached the final stages of development and are slated for release in the coming quarters. However, the assumption that these are Cyberpunk-themed titles directly contradicts the developers' official social media statements.
Financial statistics rarely lie, but they don't interpret creative decisions. The increased spending at CD Projekt Red is most likely going toward next-gen compatibility, localization updates, or licensing costs—not new story hours in Night City. Players shouldn't expect any new content for the current console. Cyberpunk 2077 Expect. The REDengine is internally history.

I'm currently on my first playthrough of Night City on my PS5 Pro and it exceeds all the expectations I've had for the title after years of delay!
Another snack would be very welcome.
