The entire "Dark Souls" trilogy is reportedly being rebuilt from the ground up. While the community is still waiting for any sign of life from "Bloodborne," which will probably never come, a recent rumor is causing a stir, suggesting that the three core games of the Souls saga will be brought to life on modern engines.

A leak from YouTuber Shirrako claims that Bandai Namco is working on a complete remake of the Dark Souls trilogy. If this proves true, we could be expecting not only graphical updates for the classics, but potentially profound gameplay overhauls for the entire series.

Dark Souls Trilogy Remake – Fact or Dream?

The source of the rumor is the YouTuber Shirrako, who claims to have been informed about the existence of this project by a "reliable source." Concrete details regarding platforms or a release window are completely lacking so far. Important for context:

  • No Bloodborne: The community's most requested remake remains buried.
  • Vorgeschichte: Rumors about a purely [unclear] were recently circulating. Remaster of Dark Souls 3 for the 10th anniversary (2026). This new information would massively expand the project.
  • Developer question: Since the legendary remake studio Bluepoint Games was shut down by Sony in March 2026, it is completely unclear who could handle such a mammoth project, should FromSoftware itself be busy with titles like The Duskbloods.

A remake of the entire trilogy would be a gigantic strategic move for Bandai Namco. While "Dark Souls" has already received a remaster that has hardly aged in terms of gameplay, "Dark Souls 2" in particular still struggles with a controversial reputation regarding hitboxes and enemy placement.

Skepticism is warranted.

We need to put the brakes on here. Remaking three huge RPGs simultaneously sounds like an enormous resource expenditure. While fans of "Dark Souls 1 and 2" immediately see the added value, a remake of "Dark Souls 3" seems almost unnecessary, since the game still looks fantastic and runs smoothly today.

The news currently seems more like wishful thinking than a concrete announcement. It's logical that Bandai Namco wants to capitalize on the franchise, but three remakes at once represent a financial and logistical risk. Until any assets or official teasers surface, we should keep our expectations very low.

What do you think: Do we really need a remake of Dark Souls 3, or should the resources be put entirely into a polished Dark Souls 2?

I would be ashamed to have to process the engagement farming of a complete idiot as an article; phew, journalism is also trash, being able to distinguish between leaks, rumors and news.
Even if it's not your own trash, you become a trash page and a laughingstock; nobody takes Shirrako seriously, and he's long since lost favor with the public.
