Sony has launched its "Days of Play 2026" promotion, reducing the price of PlayStation Plus annual subscriptions by up to 33 percent. New titles will also be available on the service starting June 2nd.
The discount model applies to both new customers and existing customers who wish to upgrade to the higher Extra or Premium tiers. Short-term subscriptions of one or three months are also available. Days of Play As usual, I came away empty-handed.
The PlayStation Plus Days of Play discounts
New customers receive the maximum discount of 33 percent exclusively when signing up for a 12-month subscription. Those already using the Essential basic package or the Extra level can also upgrade their remaining term to the next higher level, Premium or Deluxe, with a 33 percent discount.
Sony, however, explicitly ruled out simply extending existing contracts at the promotional price on the same tier in its official announcement. This is their usual tactic, as the focus is clearly on upselling the more expensive services.
Additionally, Sony is linking the promotion to its in-house hardware sales channel Direct.playstation.com. PlayStation PlusMembers in Germany receive an automatic 5% discount at checkout for orders over €50. Pre-orders are excluded from this offer. This hardware tie-in is a limited-time test run until March 31, 2027. Sony is attempting to link subscription numbers with direct sales of consoles and accessories.
The game lineup for June
Regardless of the discounts, the following will change on June 2nd: Monthly titles for all subscription levelsThis time, the focus is entirely on multiplayer experiences. Obsidian's formerly Xbox-exclusive survival game "Grounded" is coming to PlayStation. It's joined by the co-op shooter "Warhammer 40,000: Darktide," which already has a dedicated community, especially on PC, and the fighting game "Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2."
The mix reveals a clear strategy. Sony isn't relying on its own big, expensive single-player blockbusters in June. Instead, they're filling the service with titles that thrive on high player interaction and long match cycles. This ensures server activity throughout the summer months.

Sony Pictures Core Deal
Sony Pictures Core is also extending its "Days of Play" discount to its entire film portfolio, granting PlayStation Plus members a flat 15 percent discount. The promotion includes both purchase and rental media across the entire store, including titles such as "Caught Stealing," "Insidious: The Last Key," "Jumanji: The Next Level," and "Resident Evil: Death Island."
The Days of Play offer the best entry point of the year for the PlayStation ecosystem. Anyone planning an upgrade to Extra or Premium anyway will save real money. Period. For existing customers who don't intend to upgrade, however, the promotion is useless.

Back then, as far as I remember, the collector's edition of G: Host of the Ts: Uhimah sold out quickly and was resold at exorbitant prices.
Now titles like Spider-Man, Death Stranding 2, or Y O'T I are months or even years old, and the editions are gathering dust on the shelves… they're even being sold for 100 euros less xD

As with the last sales, all I can think is: Weak offers.
As expected, very weak offers. 50 for Astro Bot. 60 for Ghost of Yotei. Apparently, we have to get used to weak discounts.
I prefer to buy it in a retail store, even if the disc annoys me, and can sell it back for money after playing through the game.
Sony is just arrogant, greedy, and totally delusional… charging such exorbitant prices for these lemons. These aren't deals, these are normal prices, but many people don't realize that because 80 euros is supposedly the normal price now… oh man.
