Dead or Alive 6 officially announced

Koei Tecmo also can't quite wait for the E3 kickoff and is already officially announcing 'Dead or Alive 6', which will be released in early 2019.

Official information about the game is expected to follow next week, so for now we only have an initial preview report from IGN. It states, among other things:

"This time we wanted to make a cooler and more mature Dead or Alive, and to that end we consciously chose to make the characters less sexualized," said game director Yohei Shimbori.

"The female characters are still attractive, just like the men, but first and foremost they are fighters." Director Yutaka Saito added, "Our goal is no longer to force characters to look great, but to let them follow the natural flow of combat."

Furthermore, it's stated that the game will look more realistic this time around, although there's no intention to alter the science fiction/fantasy atmosphere with ninjas, clones, and so on. In the real world, even the strongest fighter couldn't survive a fall from a skyscraper, but that's precisely what makes Dead or Alive so much fun. This new sense of realism is intended to prove more useful in making the over-the-top combat more convincing.

More information will follow next week.
