Information about the engine?
As far as we know, Hideo Kojima has been touring various Sony studios in recent months to find the best possible engine for Death Stranding. While nothing is set in stone yet, current rumors suggest the game will use a modified version of the Sucker Punch engine, supposedly codenamed 'Decima'. Whether this will ultimately prove true remains to be seen.
Death Stranding is not expected to be released before 2018.
(Update)
Meanwhile, further, though unconfirmed, details have emerged, including the fact that in addition to Norman Redus, Mads Mikkelsen, and Guillermo del Toro, other well-known actors will be involved, including Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Ryan Gosling, Kevin Durand, and Idris Elba, most of whom are expected to play the Ludens in the game. John Carpenter has also reportedly been secured to compose the soundtrack and music.
It is further mentioned that Death Stranding will be a single-player game with a multiplayer component, which is intended to encourage players to cooperate and describes the aforementioned 'rope' aspect.
As mentioned, this information is still unconfirmed and should therefore be treated with caution.
