Detroit: Become Human - Interactive audiobook available as an Alexa skill

Besides the CyberLife skillFollowing the release of the Amazon Echo app in the US, PlayStation is introducing an interactive audiobook for Amazon's voice assistant in this country, based on 'Detroit: Become Human'.

The skill presents a gripping story set in the near future of our everyday lives, where androids and artificial intelligences are an integral part of life – just like in the game itself. Lead author Claudia Kern was inspired by the upcoming sci-fi thriller from Quantic Dream. The game tackles the theme of a looming rebellion by self-aware artificial intelligences in a highly cinematic and exciting way. Set in 2038, the player takes on the roles of three androids and experiences a scenario of AI uprising, where they refuse to tolerate humanity's oppression any longer. Every decision has significant consequences.

Sony comments on the skill as follows:

"The interactive audiobook adventure "The Case of Rachel: Fate of an AI," recorded by professional speakers, also takes the player to a not-too-distant future where a momentous incident is taking place: The female police android Rachel and her human partner David investigate a seemingly routine case that takes them to the darkest corners of Chicago."

The player's goal is to steer the story in a unique direction through their own decisions. The narrative is based on the "choose your own adventure" principle, resulting in a multitude of far-reaching plot developments that unlock new options otherwise hidden. The adventure then evaluates the player's performance by displaying a percentage score that reflects their alignment. This encourages the player to revisit the interactive adventure along an alternative path.
