November 2026 belongs to Rockstar Games. That's the unwritten law of the gaming industry. The competition is fleeing in panic, pushing their multi-million dollar projects en masse to September and begging for a few weeks of digital breathing room.
Naked fear is dictating the release plans of the executive suites. Only one publisher is refusing to collectively bow down to the gigantic “GTA 6“-Roller: Devolver Digital. The indie rebel has postponed a still-secret project from its secure May release date to exactly November 19th. Perfect timing.”
The lonely but courageous rebel
They are the only publisher who doesn't care at all about the earthquake. Devolver Digital They're going all out on social media, firing off one challenge after another at Rockstar Games. This isn't a sudden burst of megalomania. They're seeking a direct confrontation on the same day as the biggest media event of the decade.

You can dismiss it as PR hype. The logic behind it, however, is incredibly clever. A small indie project, unlike all the AAA competition, isn't competing for the exact same target audience as an €80 open-world heavyweight.
We're seeing the same sentiment in our comments. "GTA 6" may be a monolith, but it doesn't appeal to everyone. Those looking for unconventional niche titles will pick it up anyway. Devolver is perfectly exploiting the spotlight of fleeing publishers. They're filling the vacuum of cowardice. That's bold. And damn funny.
Take-Two is projecting an absurd $8 billion in revenue for the coming fiscal year, driven by "GTA 6." Even more than a decade after its release, its predecessor still sells around 5 million copies per quarter. These are figures that are paralyzing the industry. The fact that Nintendo is keeping completely quiet about its November releases and is essentially operating in its own galaxy underscores this exceptional situation. While a major Nintendo Switch 2 title in November is conceivable, it remains pure speculation.
Devolver is the only player in the business showing real guts. While the big publishers are chickening out, the indie king pulls off the perfect troll move. Whether the community will even have eyes for another game besides "GTA 6" on November 19th remains the big risk. But they've already secured their attention.
