It feels like the current console generation isn't really getting off the ground – not only is there a lack of hardware, but true next-gen games are still nowhere to be seen. Instead, there's a frantic focus on cross-gen titles. Nevertheless, Sony believes that the PS5 had a stronger launch than the PS4 did back then.
According to PlayStation boss Jim Ryan, while the PS4 had an incredibly strong launch, the majority of truly excellent and outstanding games were released in the second half of the generation. Therefore, they made a conscious effort to improve on this and can already say that progress has been made in this area.
“In just a few months since the launch of the PS5, we have released incredible games and have so much more in the pipeline,” said Ryan.

Developers are only now discovering the technology
The PS5 is involved according to Ryan It's still only the beginning, with developers just starting to discover and utilize the technology. We can hardly wait to see what PlayStation Studios, third-party developers, and indie studios will conjure up from this white box in the coming years.
Ryan refers here to games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Returnal or Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart These are good examples of what could be achieved in just the first six months. This is only a glimpse of what can be imagined for the second and third years of this generation.
Criticism of cross-gen
Even though Sony sees this as a positive development, the criticism of cross-gen releases cannot be ignored. These releases include every upcoming top Sony title, including... Gran Turismo 7, God of War: Ragnarok or Horizon forbidden west, the All recently confirmed for PS4 as well They were. A next-gen-only title from Sony is not currently in sight.
While Sony and other companies might not want to acknowledge that this is holding the PS5 generation back, at least in some respects, it's undeniable. Compromises have to be made somewhere, and these aren't limited to resolution or frame rate. And this is precisely what makes the PS5 generation currently feel like it's being driven with the handbrake on.
The PS5 is selling incredibly well, but the problem is probably that most consoles don't reach consumers but end up on eBay and similar sites… you can always get a console, just not at the normal price.
I think the community should work together to consistently grab the consoles and then resell them on eBay at the normal price. If many people participate, we can really take the wind out of the sails of scalpers and resellers, and reselling them would no longer be profitable, making the PS5 uninteresting. The high prices only exist because there's always someone willing to buy it for €750 or more.
