Electronic Arts has presented its latest business report and also addressed the new PS5 and Xbox Series X in the subsequent investor conference.

CFO Blake Jorgensen stated that as one of the largest publishers, they are under considerable pressure to truly utilize the new hardware. And as far as they can tell at this point, that's exactly what they intend to do, and they will absolutely blow players away.

“In the next few years, you’ll start seeing things we’re working on in games that will blow people away,” said Jorgensen. “That’s the fun part of this business, where we’ll see so much innovation, not just within our company, but across the entire industry. That’s also the reason for the growth in the overall software business as part of this video game business that you’ve seen in every single console cycle over the last 20 years.”

The power is substantially greater

Jorgensen also commented on the performance of the new consoles, stating that it will be "substantially greater" and that a lot more can be done with it. Unfortunately, he isn't providing any further details at this time.

"The performance of the new consoles will be significantly higher than that of the existing consoles. We can do so much more [with the PS5 and Xbox Series X]. The things we're doing are simply going to blow people away."

EA itself is currently working on several next-gen projects, even if they haven't explicitly named them yet. Four major releases outside the EA Sports series are planned for the coming fiscal year alone. Furthermore, they are hoping for significant growth and momentum from the new Battlefield 6, which is slated for release sometime in 2021, presumably also for PS5.
