Bethesda and Arkane Studio are releasing Dishonored again this year. the stand-alone expansion 'Death of the Outsider'. At gamescom 2017, we were able to get a sneak peek at the new chapter, accept and complete the first missions.
In "Dishonored: Death of the Outsider," the infamous Billie Lurk returns. Together with her mentor, the legendary assassin Daud, Billie delves into the dark underworld of Karnaca to prepare for the most difficult mission of all time: the death of the Outsider.
After a brief tutorial explaining our special abilities and providing a glimpse into the weapons and equipment, we were off and running. We found ourselves in a city with several selectable objectives. The decision was quickly made, and the journey began. On the way to the first mission, however, a few guards had to be eliminated. Here, we had the choice between a loud frontal assault or the clever use of extremely useful abilities, the latter usually seeming the safer option. So, we looked for a civilian, ideally unobserved, and stole their body. But beware, this effect doesn't last forever. Once the disguise wears off, the guards spotted us and immediately attacked, which usually ended in our death.
Camouflage is everything
Should your disguise be blown, you can teleport to a distant point, which you'll need to quickly target yourself. A good spot would be a wall or statue, behind which you can hide until the guards stop searching. If you do end up in a head-on confrontation, you should be able to attack and block with your sword at the right moment. Using available ranged weapons, such as a mini-crossbow mounted on the back of your wrist, is also recommended. The solution to the riddle…
This time, too, things aren't always immediately obvious. And that's precisely what makes it so interesting. For example, to open the safe in a house, we first have to follow a few clues. Defense mechanisms must be overcome to reach our goal, requiring a bit more attention here and there. Overall, it's the typical Dishonored gameplay that awaits you in "Death of the Outsiders," so fans of the series should quickly find their way around.
Optically convincing
The thoughtful design of the environments is also a highlight. The narrow streets with their inhabitants and green spaces are, as always, beautifully rendered. The player character and enemies also look extremely appealing. Overall, the presentation is as expected, even if one shouldn't expect groundbreaking graphical innovations. After all, it's "only" an expansion, maintaining the high standard set by the main game.

In summary, "Dishonored: Death of the Outsider" whets the appetite for more. The brief glimpse was quite promising and suggests more exciting hours of gameplay on the various missions, so fans can look forward to an interesting additional story at the usual high standard of Arkane games.
