Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially announced a new Dragon Ball Game Project It was unveiled. The title is currently AGE 1000, which was announced during the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event in Japan, including a first teaser trailer and a clear statement: The game is scheduled for release in 2027.
Dragon Ball Game Project AGE 1000 It doesn't simply retell a familiar saga, but introduces a completely new Dragon Ball world. With new characters, a new setting, and a fresh story, designed by none other than series creator Akira Toriyama himself.
AGE 1000 focuses on originality rather than nostalgia.
According to Bandai Namco, AGE 1000 will create a standalone Dragon Ball universe populated by entirely new characters. The protagonist shown in the trailer is also a Toriyama creation and visibly differs from previous designs. Less of a muscleman, more in the classic Toriyama style.
This is a clear change of direction, as the franchise has relied heavily on fan service and familiar story arcs in recent years. AGE 1000 apparently plans to break out of this comfort zone. Whether this will work in terms of gameplay remains to be seen, but the approach sounds bold and is long overdue.
So far, all information comes from the official presentation, and concrete statements regarding genre, gameplay structure, or monetization are completely lacking.
More info on the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026
Bandai Namco also announced that they will reveal further details at Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026. The event takes place on April 18th and 19th in Los Angeles and has become the central showcase for new Dragon Ball games in recent years.
In addition to tournaments to Dragon Ball FighterZ New information about AGE 1000 is also expected to follow the card games. Whether gameplay footage will be shown is unconfirmed. Bandai Namco typically remains vague on such matters.
A new Dragon Ball game project with an original world sounds exciting on paper. However, the reality check will come later. The crucial question is whether AGE 1000 offers more in terms of gameplay than just a new layer of lore on top of familiar systems.
The question remains: will it be a classic action RPG, a service game, or how deep does the story really go? Without answers to these questions, AGE 1000 remains, for now, an intriguing promise.
What do you all mean: Does Dragon Ball urgently need new worlds, or would you rather continue playing the familiar sagas?
