In a conversation with a large retail chain here in Germany, we were informed that current stock levels are so high that they don't expect to receive the new version of the DualShock 4 controller in the coming weeks. They themselves cannot order it specifically and must wait until Sony begins shipping it. However, it is assumed that there will be a smooth transition once stocks of the older model are depleted. We should simply keep an eye out for it.
The most significant difference in the new controller is the LED strip, which now also shines through the top edge of the touchpad, and the 5GHz wireless module for even more stable data transmission. Data can also now be exchanged with the console via USB cable, which, according to Sony, will further reduce latency. This is an advantage that should be particularly noticeable in fast-paced fighting games and shooters.
The only way to get the new DualShock 4 controller right now is to buy the PS4 Slim, where it comes standard. However, a gold version, also featuring the new specifications, is slated for release in the US in November. official Final Fantasy XV bundle delivered.
