The first chapter of 'Elite Dangerous: Beyond' will be released in the final stretch of this month, as confirmed today by the developers at Frontier Developments.

Beyond, the third season of Elite Dangerous, is free for all players and focuses on community-requested improvements. Alongside these key changes, the player-driven story continues with new in-game content. Pilots from across the galaxy will gain access to new tools to help shape the ever-evolving narrative.

The new 'Advance Tactical Response' initiative targets repeat offenders, 'Hot Ships' pin crimes on players' starships, and the new reputation system increases the consequences for illegal activities. These changes make the galaxy more challenging for experienced pilots. With the introduction of GalNet Audio, the primary source of news in Elite Dangerous becomes more accessible. Commanders receive the latest updates there and remain immersed in the overarching narrative without ever having to leave the action.

Starting February 27th, new contacts will be available for Elite Dangerous Horizons owners. Tech Brokers, traders of rare tools and technology, will give players the chance to acquire new items. Commanders can also use traders to convert and exchange materials, making Engineering Missions and Tech Broker Missions more accessible.

A new trade data overlay makes planning profitable routes easier, changes to engineering mechanics guarantee improvements during crafting, and the mission reward system has been reworked. Additionally, a new warship, the Chieftain, has been built in response to the Targoid threat.
