It's not always the performance of superior hardware that determines whether the most beautiful games are created. The talent of the artists behind the game is crucial, which is why PlayStation often produces the most visually stunning titles.
Jack Attridge, Creative Director at Flavourworks, has now stated this. Official PlayStation MagazineAccording to this view, it's not the most powerful console or the biggest budget that's decisive, but rather the skills of the people working on it. Currently, PlayStation is therefore able to tackle risky and creative projects, projects like Little Big Planet, which would never have existed on any other platform.
"From a financial perspective, this is indeed one of the best times in gaming history for risky, innovative projects. And I think that's the great thing that has made PlayStation so unique. Sony has invested in flagship products, like 'We're going to show you why you should buy a PlayStation 4.' And I've felt that this has been the case since the PS3 days with Little Big Planet. No one else would have funded something like Little Big Planet."
This is also one of the reasons why the PS4 currently has the best games, especially first-party games like God of War, Horizon, Death Stranding & Co., as Attridge concludes.
Flavourworks had most recently been working on the live-action project Erica Work has been done. What follows this is currently unclear.
