Following the success of 'Everspace' on PC, Rockfish today announces the official sequel 'Everspace 2', which will be released in 2020 for consoles and PC.
In contrast to the roguelike concept of its predecessor, EVERSPACE 2 is an open-world space shooter with classic RPG elements and persistent player progression, as well as a much larger number of player ships and significantly expanded storytelling.
EVERSPACE 2 will significantly surpass its predecessor in both audiovisual quality and scope, which is also reflected in the considerably larger development budget. The first trailer, shown at gamescom, was created entirely from in-game footage. Space game enthusiasts can also get a first taste of the quality, gameplay, and open-world feel at the ROCKFISH booth in the Indie Arena in Hall 10.2, where a polished prototype is already playable.
“EVERSPACE impressed with its innovative concept of fast-paced space combat with roguelike elements and compelling storytelling. Nevertheless, many of our fans and space game enthusiasts expressed a desire for an open-world space shooter with classic RPG elements set in the EVERSPACE™ universe,” said Michael Schade, CEO and co-founder of ROCKFISH Games. “With EVERSPACE 2, we are therefore taking the step towards an open-world space shooter, while remaining true to our core principles and delivering exactly what fans loved about its predecessor: a beautiful, fantastical sci-fi world paired with uncompromising space action that gets straight to the point!”
Everspace 2 is expected to be released at the end of 2020.
